Before the Gorillaz lived forever, there was Humanz. An album with big beats, a heavy drop, and amazing vocals coupled with really good visuals that make the head spin. I have no idea how they keep doing it, but they manage to! I was recently gifted the entire discography, and I am aiming to keep it well respected.
The vocals on ‘Corona’ indeed remind me of a star ejecting mass – a beautiful transmission straight from the depths of Spain. As is normal with the Gorillaz, they take full control of the drum machine, giving maximum bang-for-your-buck with the beautiful poly-phonic drums and the poppy synth.
Gorillaz is a project that showcases the amazing nature of the best artists in the world. With such collaborators as Earthgang (in other works) and of course Daman, the work becomes apparent as excellent from a very first listen. Gorillaz don’t know how to hold back, and they don’t want to.
This album just makes me want to dance!
