For someone who is a massive Tame Impala fan, I admittedly committed the sin of not staying up to date with their latest album – The Slow Rush. However after this gig at a sold-out Spark Arena, I can already say their new album is a winner.
Alongside classics like Let it Happen and Backwards, the show introduced a whole menagerie of slick new tracks – Borderline, Breathe Deeper and Lost in Yesterday are all certified classics, earworms that have been lurking in cyberspace since the release of The Slow Rush in 2020.
The visual experience Tame Impala puts on is astounding – apparently the best yet, according to Kevin Parker himself – and I’ve got to say the combination of lasers, confetti cannons and moving stage elements really hit the spot.
I will certainly catch Tame Impala next time he’s in town and God forbid I sleep on the next album.
